Every other week, there seems to be a new study touting the advantages of drinking coffee. Even if your own personal jury is still out, there’s no disputing the fact that the java they’re serving at COFFEED has benefits (for other people). The locally sourced café recently opened its first Manhattan location, on the ground floor of The New York Foundling — a charity that empowers thousands of children and families to live independent, stable and fulfilling lives. Foundling leased its space at a reduced rate to the socially conscious store, which has pledged to put aside 10 percent of beverage and 5 percent of food sales to support Foundling’s many programs and services. So drink up, because what’s good for you is good for them! COFFEED is located at 590 Sixth Ave., btw. 16th & 17th Sts. Soon, their large storefront windows will be opened to let in the spring air.
