Oh, no! Not HERE! Van rams theater

Just before 2 p.m. on Tuesday, a van that had been parked on Dominick St. plowed into the nearby front doors of the newly renovated HERE theater on the one-block street. No one was injured. The driver, Alexander Milic, of Sasha Construction, who was doing construction inside Chelsea Campus High School across the street, said he had gone to get a sandwich at a deli on Broome St. and had left the keys in the ignition, which was turned off. He said someone must have done something to start the van. But Kristin Marting, HERE’s artistic director, said he must have left the van running and that no one was in the vehicle when it smashed into HERE’s lobby. “This is from Germany and it takes 12 to 16 months to get here,” Marting lamented of the totaled entryway with its special colored glass. “I don’t know what we’re going to do — it’s our front doors.”
