B.P.C. library to open in ’09

Gayle Snible, New York Public Library spokesperson, said that construction on the Battery Park City library is scheduled to begin this winter. The library will take about 18 months to build and will cost $4.3 million for construction, furniture and computers.

The library will be in the Riverhouse condo building under construction at 1 River Terrace. Residential occupancy is expected in January.

Last week, Paul Nagle, Councilmember Alan Gerson’s spokesperson, told Downtown Express that the library should open at the end of next year, but library officials did not comment by press time.
