Subway motorcade

One commuter reached for a snack last Friday, apparently unaware that a famous billionaire who works at City Hall was standing next to him. Mayor Mike Bloomberg, who pledged during his campaign to take public transportation on a regular basis, hopped on an express train at the Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall station on his way to a Bush-Cheney fundraiser, also attended by Vice President Cheney. The mayor took a motorcade a few blocks to the Regis Hotel when he got off at 59th St. Bloomberg does not control the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, which is perhaps why he did not tell the commuter that the M.T.A. frowns on eating on the subway.
