Arrest molester

Police arrested Rio C. Morgan, 32, a homeless man, on Sat. Nov. 13 and charged him with entering the New York University dorm rooms of two woman students on Third Ave. at E. 11th St. after midnight Nov. 3 while they slept.

The intruder fled after he got into the bed of one student and licked her chest until she awoke and kicked him off the bed, according to reports.

N.Y.U. security worked with police and furnished information that led to the arrest, according to John Beckman, university spokesperson. “The arrest should bring a sense of relief, in particular to students living in the Third Ave. North residence hall,” Beckman said. “The security of our student residence halls is paramount to us, and our diligence has produced an admirable record of safety,” he said. “We will continue to be vigilant to prevent this kind of incident from recurring.”

Two security guards were suspended in connection with the incident, according to the Washington Sq. News, the student undergraduate newspaper.

Skylark fatal

A cadet from the New York State Maritime College was killed and a fellow student was critically injured after 4 a.m. on Fri. Nov. 14 while riding atop a No. 6 subway car on an elevated stretch of track in the Bronx after a night of drinking in the Village, police said.

The incident occurred less than a month after a similar incident when a 14-year-old Chelsea Vocational High School student was killed while riding on top of a C train as it approached the W. Fourth St. station.

Chris Loughrey, 22, a junior at SUNY Maritime in the Bronx, was killed instantly when struck in the head by a steel beam as the 10th car crossed the Whitlock Ave. Bridge. Brian Hochstetter, 21, was also hit. He fell to the walkway between the ninth and 10th cars and was pulled into the car by two friends who alerted the conductor.

The four Maritime college students spent the night drinking in Village bars and got on a train at Bleecker St., according to reports. While changing trains at Times Sq., Loughrey’s and Hochstetter’s two friends were given summonses by police for carrying open cans of beer. The four eventually got on a Bronx-bound No. 6 train and the two victims climbed to the roofs soon after the train emerged from the tunnel. Loughrey’s body was found on top of the 10th car. Hochstetter remained in critical condition at Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx.

Friends described the victims as serious students and said it was unimaginable that the two would engage in such a stunt, according to reports.
