From left, Council Speaker Gifford Miller, Mayor Bloomberg and Police Commissioner Ray Kelly addressed a swarm of cameras and reporters at the first of two press conferences after the shooting at City Hall last Wednesday. Later on, as more details of the incident emerged, the three held another packed press conference inside City Hall. First video cameras were let in, so they could set up, then still cameras, then radio reporters and finally print media. Each local newspaper was allowed only one reporter inside the Blue Room, where press conferences are held, for lack of space. Reporters said it was the biggest local media event since 9/11.
