Westbeth rents won’t be so taxing with abatement
Council Speaker Christine Quinn, center, joined Westbeth leaders George Cominskie and Mae Gamble in the City Council chamber at the end of last month, after the Council passed legislation renewing a tax abatement for the West Village artists’ housing complex for another 40 years. Had Westbeth not received the abatement, each apartment in the complex, at West and Bethune Sts., would have had to pay $200 more per month to cover the property taxes.
