‘Congratulations on 75 years! It’s a remarkable accomplishment that The Villager has remained a first-rate, independent community newspaper for so long, particularly in this age of media conglomeration. The breadth and depth of local news coverage and editorials, political gossip in Scoopy’s, arts reviews, sports reporting and compelling photography all make The Villager a must-read. I have to say that I’ve never once been misquoted, too, which probably helps explain my sense of local pride when I see a story in one of the citywide papers that The Villager broke a week earlier.’
