Thompson honors 8 for 05
City Comptroller William Thompson honored leaders in the New York City gay and lesbian community at a ceremony on June 9 at the L.G.B.T. Center. Among the honorees were performance artist Charles Busch, right, and restaurateur and Meat Market preservationist Florent Morellet, above, in green shirt, shaking hands with Thompson. Other honorees included Clarence Patton, acting executive director, New York City Gay and Lesbian Anti-Violence Project; Alan Van Capelle, executive director, Empire State Pride Agenda; Pat Bumgardner, pastor, Universal Fellowship of Metropolitan Community Churches; Paisley Currah, executive director, Center for Lesbian and Gay Studies, Brooklyn College, CUNY; Emil Wilbekin, vice president of Brand Development; and Marc Ecko, former editor-in-chief, Vibe magazine.
