East Villagers ready to sue over bars

East Villagers have had it with the deluge of bars and plan to sue.
“We’re building a fund to sue the State Liquor Authority for the oversaturation of bars in the community,” said local activist Anna Sawaryn. “It’s no longer about the noise and quality of life complaints. There’s violent crime on Avenue A. There’s been a lot of stabbings…”
State Senator Martin Connor’s office is working with the Coalition to Save the East Village to survey all the liquor-licensed premises in the area, “to show the saturation, to show how close [the bars] are and the impact on the community,” said Sawaryn.
